Big Idea

A word from It’s Feasible founder, Kevin Weaver:

Thanks for your interest in It’s Feasible™ and our Big Ideas. It’s interesting how it all started.

I’ve been a serial entrepreneur for more than thirteen years and a dreamer since childhood. I remember riding in a car with my parents in our small mid-western hometown, driving them crazy with questions – “Why …?” “What if …?” “Why couldn’t you …?” or “Why don’t we …?”

Thankfully, they never discouraged me. Usually they answered, “Why don’t you!”

And I did!

Over the years, I enjoyed great victories, and sadly, some disappointing defeats.

Let me tell you how I learned to take both –  the ups and the downs – and turn them into invaluable gifts to others.

A few years ago I was attending a CEO Advisory Council, a local Mastermind Group started by John Carpenter Dealey. The Council leverages the combined knowledge and wisdom of small groups of seasoned CEO’s to help solve each other’s problems, take advantage of opportunities, and create more time to do the things they love.

During a routine meeting while seeking advice on a business problem/opportunity I was facing, a fellow council member made an interesting observation about my “real” challenge. In his opinion, I had the common challenge of many creative types, that of separating opportunities from distractions.

After much discussion that day, someone suggested with tongue in cheek that I create a book called “Kevin’s Big Ideas To Make Millions of Dollars LATER,” or “The Book” for short.

Their stern instruction to me was that every time I had a new idea, I was to put it in “The Book,” then forget about it and go back to the business I was running!

I reluctantly agreed. For the next several years, every time I had a new “big idea,” I would give myself three hours to write about the idea and dream about how it might change the world. Then I would do the most painful part – put it in “The Book” and forget about it!

I would usually share the idea with my supportive wife, who would graciously smile, put the book back on the library shelf, and point me back to the project I was working on before the Big Idea.

This continued for years. It provided an outlet for ideas, while simultaneously increasing my focus on the “projects at hand.”

In December 2005 my wife and I were returning from a holiday when she asked, “If you were to give yourself permission to start another business venture, what would it be?” After an uncertain response, she gave me “The Book” and encouraged me to flip through it. I was amazed at the number and scope of the ideas, many of which I had forgotten about.

I struggled to sift out the one “Big Idea” that truly excited me enough to invest the passion, time and money it takes to bring an idea to market and operate it profitably.

For the next few hours, I was flooded with ideas but still could not narrow my focus and commit to operate just one.

The best idea that day was in the moment I realized that I was most passionate, most excited and professionally fulfilled not when I was operating a company but when I was creating, developing, testing and validating new ideas.

That was the birth of It’s Feasible, the business of creating businesses, not operating them.

For the next year I researched and created the business model for what is now It’s Feasible. Today, I am abundantly thankful for the opportunity to wake up every day and endeavor to combine my passion, ability and experience to turn a few Big Ideas into reality.

With gratitude,

Kevin L. Weaver
